2014 N.C. Inspector of the Year
Steve Cox, a retired Weyerhaeuser forester and a certified Tree Farmer, was named 2014 Inspector of the Year at the N.C. Tree Farm Program Annual Meeting on Oct. 25. Jeremy Isom, a consulting forester with GFR Forestry Consultants, presented the award.
Cox has served on the N.C. Tree Farm Program's Board of Directors for five years, including three years as vice president of outreach and education. During his tenure he:
• Conducted four Inspector Training Workshops
• Trained 62 new Tree Farm Inspectors
• Produced PowerPoint presentations for loggers, landowners and the general public to promote Tree Farm
• Filmed a segment on the Tree Farm Program for ProLogger training
• Made numerous Tree Farm presentations at landowner workshops
• Organized field tours for Tree Farmers
• Served on the Assessment Committee for the 2013 Price Waterhouse Coopers audit
• Participated in the N.C. Tree Farm Program strategic planning process
• Conducted six inspections
2013 N.C. Inspector of the Year

Mark has conducted 16 Tree Farm inspections over the years, including 10 in 2013. He participated in the 2013 state assessment, helped coordinate two Inspector Training Workshops in 2012-2013 that trained 27 new inspectors and has promoted the Tree Farm Program extensively with private forest landowners.
