Tennessee Natural Heritage Inventory Program (http://www.state.tn.us/environment/na/nhp.shtml)

Features information on threatened and endangered plants and wildlife, habitats of particular conservation concern, and stewardship actions designed to benefit these important natural resources. Includes downloadable lists of endangered or threatened plant and wildlife species by county, watershed or USGS quad.

**A fee is charged to compile site-specific species lists and information.

Note: While the heritage program provides information on rare animals of Tennessee, the legal listing of animals is handled by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (http://www.state.tn.us/twra/) – conserves and manages the state’s wildlife and aquatic resources.  Check the State Wildlife Action Plan (http://www.tn.gov/twra/article/tennessees-state-wildlife-action-plan) for an overview of key species and habitats of conservation concern throughout the state.
