Forest & Families and other AFF Email

Why am I getting this email?

You are getting the Forest & Families email because you are listed in our database as a currently certified Tree Farmer and or are a current Tree Farm Inspector or State Leader. If you are getting another email you could have gotten on the list in a variety of ways.

How did you get my email?

Since email is the most efficient way for the Tree Farm System to communicate with Tree Farmers about important program updates and educational opportunities we make an effort to collect accurate email addresses. We ask for emails in several ways - through inspections, donations, surveys, petitions, webinars and in the past we have also done list buys for Certified Tree Farmers. It is also possible that your email was given to the inspector by a family member who did not have their own email, but wanted to stay in contact.

How often will I get emails?

We plan to send emails once every other week at least - with some special cases. Also if you sign up for any additional email lists like Week in Trees and Woodland Owner Tips - these are managed separately and aren't considered in the once a week count.

How do I get fewer emails?

We have set up a preferences page that details all the topics that we might send emails about, so you can add or take yourself off a list by checking or unchecking a box. Each list has a brief description to help you decide. You can find the preferences page in every email by looking in the footer at the bottom of the email.

What are all these options on the preferences page?

The Forests and Families e-newsletter is considered the ATFS Program Updates, Profiles are occasional longer stories about people that are a part of our network. State Committee News are messages direct from your state and ATFS Certification Updates are the most vital information for the health of the certification program. Other email lists include Policy updates, Tips for Landowners from My Land Plan, AFF events and general AFF Woodlands news and their topics are explained on the preferences page.

How do I change my email preferences?

On the bottom of every email there is footer and there you can find the option to change your preferences. On the preferences page you can choose what topics you are interested in receiving emails on. You can unsubscribe and re-subscribe at any time.

How do I get certification updates by email?

If you want to get certification updates you should make sure that the ATFS Certification Updates is checked on your preferences page.

How do I get webinar notifications by email?

If you want to get information on ATFS landowner webinars you should make sure that either the Events or the ATFS Program Updates box is checked on your preferences page.

How can I correct or change my email?

You can change or correct you email by responding to any email sent to you - or by signing into our website to correct your information (see below in the website section).

Can I unsubscribe? How?

You may unsubscribe completely by choosing to opt out on the preferences page or unchecking all the boxes. HOWEVER, if you uncheck the ATFS Certification Updates then we will consider that an indication that you no longer wish to be a certified Tree Farmer so we STRONGLY advise against this step and we will use this list for the most vital updates.

You are sending emails to me for another person. How can I fix this?

Sorry about that - this most often happens due to human error. Please respond to the email with information about who we tried to send the email to and how that isn't you. We may need to contact you further to make sure we're making the right changes.

Do you have any tips for dealing with junk mail?

Actually we do! You love all your Tree Farm emails - but all these other pesky emails are clogging up your inbox. You might find the website Unroll.me helpful - it is a way to unsubscribe from email from one central location.

Tree Farm Website

How do I sign into the Tree Farm website?

You can sign in by clicking on Log In which can be found in the upper right hand corner.Every Tree Farmer has a user name and password automatically. If you don't know yours contact us at info@forestfoundation.org. You can also create your own - but if your email is already in our system you may run into trouble.

How do I order a sign?

Log into the website and click on the right hand menu option Purchase Tree Farm Signs

Why don't I see my Tree Farm number on my profile?

If you have created your own profile, it may not be connected to your Tree Farm properly in our system. One of our staff at info@forestfoundation.org can do that for you on the backend. We may need to ask you for more information to figure it out. Alternatively your Tree Farm might be connected to an organization rather than you personally or your Tree Farm might have been inspected but not entered into our database yet (there is often a delay in this).

How can I correct my mailing address?

Log into the website and look on the right hand menu. There is a menu option called Update My Profile - there you can update your information.

How can I view or pay my invoices?

Log into the website and look on the right hand menu. There is a menu option called My Transactions that should show you all your current and past invoices.

I've found a misspelling, broken link or the site is giving me trouble, what do I do?

Well, you can either send an email to info@forestfoundation.org or you can submit your problem here

Woodland Magazine

We're here to help. Below are common questions asked about our publications. If you have another question that is not covered here, please email us at magazine@forestfoundation.org

What happened to Tree Farmer Bulletin?

Tree Farmer Bulletin was discontinued after the summer 2014 issue. In place of the Bulletin, we have upgraded our offerings on our website, through our webinars and through email, and we encourage you to take advantage of those. We are also pleased to offer Woodland magazine to those who donate $25 or more to the American Forest Foundation as a token of our gratitude.

I just donated $25 or more to AFF. When can I expect to receive my first issue of the magazine?

Thank you for your donation! Woodland magazine is a quarterly publication, so it may be a few months before your first issue arrives.

What's your publication schedule?

Woodland magazine is a quarterly publication and we mail the first week of January, April, July and October.  We begin printing the magazine the 3rd week of November, February, May and August and will include all subscribers through these weeks. If for example, you sent your subscription payment to us the first week of December, your first issue will be the April issue.

PLEASE NOTE: It may take several weeks from when you mail your check until the data is entered into our system. As a result, if you send a donation shortly before the mailing list is pulled for a given issue, you may not receive that issue. You will receive the next issue, and that is when your subscription will officially start for one year.

If you have questions or concerns about this, feel free to contact us at magazine@forestfoundation.org, and we’d be happy to help you out.
