The Oklahoma Historical Society ( preserves and promotes the state’s cultural heritage.  Programs of interest include:

State Historic Preservation Office ( – provides assistance in identifying and protecting historic properties and other cultural sites in the state.  This office maintains a database of documented historic resources information, the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory Database (, that is available for public research.

Archaeological Survey ( – works to protect and preserve archaeological sites and objects, including human burial sites. 

Oklahoma State Archives and Records Management ( – identifies, preserves, and makes accessible records (such as census records, military records, family histories, and various county, state and federal records) and other documents of historical value to the state.
