The Nebraska State Historical Society (http://nebraskahistory.org/index.shtml) preserves and promotes the state’s cultural heritage.  Programs of interest include:

State Historic Preservation Office (http://www.nebraskahistory.org/histpres/index.htm) – provides assistance in identifying and protecting historic properties, archaeological sites, burial places, and other cultural sites in the state.  The Nebraska Historic Buildings Survey (http://www.nebraskahistory.org/histpres/nehbs.htm) is maintained by the office and offers downloadable county reports. 

Archaeology Division (http://www.nebraskahistory.org/archeo/index.htm) – works to protect and preserve archaeological sites and objects, including human burial sites.   

Library/Archives Division (http://www.nebraskahistory.org/lib-arch/index.htm) – identifies, preserves, and makes accessible records (such as census records, military records, family histories, and various county, state and federal records) and other documents that can help you research your special sites.
