Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (http://www.illinoishistory.gov/ps/index.htm) provides assistance in identifying and protecting historic properties, archaeological sites, burial places, and other cultural sites in the state.  The agency maintains an online database of survey information, the Historic Architectural and Archaeology Resources Geographic Information System (HAARGIS) (http://www.illinoishistory.gov/PS/haargis.htm), that can help you locate information about Illinois' historical and cultural resources.

Illinois State Archives (http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/) identifies, preserves, and makes accessible records (such as census records, military records, family histories, and various county, state and federal records) and other documents that can help you research your special sites.
