This tour of valley trees, farms and covered bridges will show you a timeless rural Oregon only miles from the state’s largest city. From Portland, you’ll travel through the French Prairie farmland first cultivated by native Americans, Hudson’s Bay fur trappers and Oregon pioneers.
Near the Willamette Valley hamlet of Stayton, you’ll join hosts Clint and Randy Bentz for a tour of the beautiful multiple-use forest that earned their parents the award for 2002 National Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year. You’ll dine in the small lodge overlooking two of the property’s four trout fishing lakes (and try your hand at a little catch and release fishing if you wish). And you’ll visit the fully appointed farm museum, a large collection of old farm equipment and pull graders, a small working sawmill and the high lake.
On the return to Portland, you’ll take a photo-worthy spin through the covered bridges of Linn County. Limited to 55 participants.
