Join Rick Zenn from the World Forestry Center for a special hands-on Project Learning Tree (PLT) workshop custom-designed for tree farmers who want to work with children and schools. We'll be based for the day at the center's famous Magness Memorial Tree Farm, an 80-acre demonstration forest and outdoor education site just south of Portland.
Try your hand at the "best of PLT" activities and learn how to work with teachers, host student groups, plan a field day, and build facilities like nature trails and outdoor classrooms. This participatory workshop will be held in the cozy Edmund Hayes Education Center with short walks and projects held outdoors around the tree farm.
Bring rain gear and comfortable walking shoes. Forest owners who are actively involved with youth activities also will be hand to share their expertise. Requires moderate walking. Limited to 55 participants.
