On September 21st, the Montana Tree Farm Committee hosted a Shared Streams Field Day in Eureka, Montana. Private forestland owners, forestry and natural resources professionals toured three Tree Farms to observe the stream restoration work that has been completed and that work still in progress. Improvement measures were taken to improve the habitat for westslope cutthroat trout and the threatened bull trout. Additionally, the field day addressed the critical forest management issue of fire prevention.

On September 26th, the Shared Streams in Maine conservation project was awarded the distinguished Natural Resources Council of America 2002 Award of Achievement in Partnership. This 18th Annual Conservation Community Awards Banquet was held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. for honorees and their guests. Laurence Wiseman, President of the American Forest Foundation and Drue DeBerry, Director of Conservation & Habitat Projects accepted the award.
