AFF & ATFS featured on CNN Headline News!

As some of you may know, AFF and ATFS recently seized an opportunity for higher visibility of our important work. An independently produced show called “Inside Business” and hosted by former Sen. Fred Thompson, looks at innovations in business and the environment. They were attracted to the business potential of carbon storage by family woodlands, and wanted to learn more about our pilot programs to help woodland owners participate in carbon markets through aggregation.

With a script provided by AFF, the segment was shot on the Oregon Tree Farm of Anne and Richard Hanschu, we produced a 5-minute video segment which serves as a good introduction to our people and programs. It features AFF President and CEO Tom Martin and our Sr. Vice President for Forestry Programs, Bob Simpson. We’d also like to thank Anne and Richard for hosting the video crew, and Mike Gaudern of the Woodlands Carbon Company for appearing in the shoot.

The video has already appeared on CNN Headline News in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Seattle-Tacoma. We have commissioned additional airings in key metropolitan media markets of importance to our policy work. Over the next few months, we expect the segment to repeat on CNN Headline News in:

  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Charlotte
  • Chicago
  • Columbia, SC
  • Detroit
  • Los Angeles
  • Portland, OR
  • Roanoke-Lynchburg
  • Savannah
  • New York
  • Washington, DC
  • As soon as we know it may be running in your area, we’ll be sure to let you know. We hope you will be able to use this video in educating landowners, legislators and partner groups about your Tree Farm work. You can download it from our website (Click on the top box that says “AFF on CNN” on our home page http://www.forestfoundation.org/) or view it on YouTube.

We also produced a second short AFF promotional video, using the same footage and adding more about our environmental education programs. It briefly describes our programs, including the American Tree Farm System, other conservation forestry programs and Project Learning Tree. This video is also available on our website or on YouTube. This would be a good thing to show at field days and Tree Farm visits. It’s already being used by some PLT teachers and principals to tell others about us. Check it out at the American Forest Foundation's website.

    We hope you like it.

    VP Communications, AFF
