  • Chicago Climate Exchange:

  • - North America’s global marketplace for integrating voluntary legally binding emissions reductions with emissions trading and offsets for all six greenhouse gases. Please visit www.chicagoclimatex.com for more information.

  • ANAB:

  • - The ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board is the U.S. accreditation body for management systems. Firms interested in performing third-party certification audits for a wide variety of industries may become accredited through ANAB in order to gain international and domestic credibility.   • Internal Monitoring Procedures:

  • - In the American Tree Farm System, internal monitoring procedures consist of initial inspection visits to assess conformance to the standard by qualified volunteer inspecting foresters and implementation of the required sample in each state program. Group managers for Independently Managed Groups are required to implement their own internal monitoring procedures.

  • Carbon Trading:

  • - Carbon trading refers to the purchase of credits by entities wishing to offset their carbon emissions from entities that have sequestered carbon or reduced their own emissions. Please visit the Carbon and ecosystems page for more information.

  • Ecosystem Services:

  • - Ecosystem services are the benefits that forestland provide other than traditional values such as timber production. These benefits include habitat for wildlife, carbon sequestration, water quality and quantity control, flood and erosion prevention, and recreational opportunities.

  • Chain of Custody:

  • - A process under which the amount of certified fiber in a product is tracked from the forest to the store shelf. Please visit the Chain of Custody section for more information.

  • Carbon Aggregator Organizations:

  • - Aggregator organizations bring together landowners under an umbrella group to accumulate a large enough land base to produce enough carbon credits to be eligible to trade on the various carbon markets.
